You have found us!
Farm & Harper is the realisation of a lifelong dream for restaurateur team Sarah & Phill MacGregor. Finally finding the ideal space in the perfect location marks out Farm & Harper as one of Kent’s must-visit restaurants – a unique, happy place for you to breakfast, lunch & dinner in the heart of Whitstable.
At Farm & Harper, honesty and respect are at the heart of everything we do – values that matter most to us.
As our name suggests, we have formed a straightforward partnership between the suppliers of our locally farmed produce and our family run buzzy High Street kitchen (and if you’re wondering, the ‘Harper’ is a family name!). There are few middlemen here because good value for our guests and the provenance of what we serve comes first and foremost. Our openness about what we serve is reflected in long-lasting and loyal relationships with our customers, staff & suppliers – a distinctive Farm & Harper culture.
OUR F&H FAMILY
We love to see our happy punters soak up the sights and smells of our open kitchen, where our chef, Phill MacGregor cooks consistently excellent dishes. These flavours are married (quite literally) to top notch front of house manager, Sarah MacGregor, who brings a service that is relaxed with a family friendly touch to the Farm & Harper atmosphere.
Our team all have something special in common – they care! From preparing a decent cup of ethically sourced and freshly roasted coffee for your morning takeaway, through to those personal touches that make a celebration dinner truly memorable, our folk do it with pride because they know that at Farm & Harper you’re onto a seriously good thing. We have come to see our team as our ‘Farm & Harper Family’; all of whom continuously go the extra mile to ensure our customers are looked after and always served with a smile.
Phill’s cooking requires little introduction. Classically trained under top London chefs Paul Gayler at The Lanesborough Hotel and Barry Tonks at Bonds on Threadneedle Street, his imperious work ethic and relentless focus on detail and quality have ensured a loyal following of serious food lovers.
Having cut his teeth as Chef Proprietor at The Dove Inn, Dargate, where he gained 2 AA Rosettes. Phill has also been Inspector’s favourite in the Michelin Guide and has had year on year appearances in The Good Food Guide, Alastair Sawdays and the AA Pub & Restaurant guides. Phill has sharpened his mastery of classic style, big flavours and exceptional award-winning combinations to offer everything from breakfast classics and lunchtime specials to sumptuous a la carte dinner menus.
At Farm & Harper we understand that a restaurant’s real success is all about the food, so we take our menu pretty seriously. We love to satisfy as many palates as possible, making sure that all our customers are included – so whether you’re a toddler or prefer vegan, we’ll make sure that you’re always well catered for with plenty of choice. We are constantly testing and updating our menus to introduce new flavours, but we also listen to our customers to recognise what your favourite F&H dishes are and ensure that they stay on the menu.
We love a good back story, so we make it our business to know exactly where all our food originates from – and collaborate closely with our suppliers to bring you the very best from the Garden of England.
To showcase Phill’s kitchen skills and offer you something a little special, we have recently introduced our ‘Food & Friends’ evenings – one off supper nights where you can enjoy superb food and company, combined with a unique menu created for one evening only.
Farm & Harper blends our laid-back seaside surroundings together with beautifully prepared, locally sourced food. Come and join us in our friendly dining rooms for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a coffee – you’re most welcome!
